Crazy FIFA Overreaction Files: De Rossi banned for four matches

Does FIFA hate futbol?

OK, OK, this De Rossi foul on McBride during the Italy v. USA game was pretty rough. Guy's nose broke. Lots of blood. Still, it didn't really look intentional. And a FOUR MATCH BAN?

Se volvieron locos...

How come you're so sure? It's by no means a reflex to have such a movement of your elbow...And judging by the precedents (where di rossi too committed similar offenses) I think he deserved well maybe a 3 games suspension.

I agree with Francisco, plus the US can hopefully use the pictures of a bloody McBride to drum up fan support.

The nose wasn't broken! Just a cut under the eye. And de Rossi apologized and McBride (who's an all around Good Guy) was happy and accepted the apology. I don't think it was an over reaction. That time of playing has no place in the World Cup.

Guys, your lack of historical perspective is appalling. In USA 94 Tassotti broke the nose of Luis Enrique (Spain), a foul wasn't even called, but the italian was suspended afterwards for 8 games! so 4 is nothing. On the other hand in that same cup, Leonardo broke Tab Ramos (USA) jaw. His penalty? What penalty? He is brazilian! Neither did Rivaldo get a penalty for pretending an injury to have a turkish player thrown out in Korea 02, nor did Adriano in this cup get a penalty, despite taking Kovac out of the game with a rib injury... So, 4 ganes for an italian that really did something awful is pretty good.
